DESIGN SOCIETY
PARK PAVILION PICNIC
17 November 2018
Saturday, 11am – 1pm
Webb Chapel Park Pavilion
11428 Cromwell Dr, Dallas, TX 75229
Free, No Reservations Needed
NOTE: This picnic has been re-scheduled due to rainy weather in late September and October.
Rain is not currently forecasted for this Saturday, but we will post on Facebook by 9 am Saturday morning if rain causes it to be rescheduled again. Thanks!
The Design Society will continue its series of informal gatherings where they investigate the design that is all around us, spread across the neighborhoods of Dallas.
Bring a picnic, and come to talk, come to draw, and come to learn about Dallas’ Park Pavilion program. The pavilion at Webb Chapel Park was designed by architect Wendy Joseph Evans, a past speaker for The Forum. Quimby McCoy Architects were Associate Architects for the pavilion, and Nancy McCoy is scheduled to join us for the picnic!
The Park Pavilion program has created some iconic works of architecture in Dallas, including pavilions at parks in underserved neighborhoods of the city. Those attending the picnic will look to the future and informally discuss how these places can be used as inspiration for design and to think about what might be next in our parks. How can we engage the landscapes of the blackland prairie and our city to create meaningful change? What might be the next iteration of the park pavilion program? Plan to join us for a relaxed time of conversation while enjoying your picnic lunch.
