Smarter Buildings Exhibition

The Dallas Center for Architecture’s latest exhibition is SMARTER BUILDINGS: At the Intersection of Architecture, Design, and Technology. It was curated by Derik Eckhardt, AIA from The Miller Hull Partnership as a part of his research through AIA Seattle’s Emerging Professionals Travel Scholarship and was first presented at the Seattle Center for Architecture and Design.
through May 4
Today’s smarter buildings use a new generation of tools that leverage current data-rich environments to help create more capable and sustainable structures. The SMARTER BUILDINGS exhibition explores advancements in the field of building technology through case studies of the world’s smartest buildings, including projects in Abu Dhabi, Amsterdam, Boston, Copenhagen, Dubai, London, Portland, and Stuttgart. The exhibition investigates buildings which represent arguably the world’s smartest buildings, not only by the degree to which technology is embedded within the built environment, but also in the ingenuity with which that technology is utilized. Smarter Buildings leverage advanced technology to enable the integration, automation, and optimization of any building system, requiring a broad range of new tools to generate and evaluate them. In broad terms, these buildings are those that provide advanced functionality through a computerized, intelligent network of digital devices.
Exhibition curator Derik Eckhardt will make a special presentation at the Center on April 12. A reception will begin the evening with the presentation to follow at 6:30 p.m. To RSVP, e-mail info@DallasCFA.com.
The exhibition will run at the Dallas Center for Architecture, 1909 Woodall Rodgers Freeway, Suite 100, through May 4. The Center is open Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
