PDYP / Design Society Happy Hour & Tour at The Statler
Come join Preservation Dallas Young Professionals in partnership with the Design Society, an affiliate of the Dallas Architecture Forum, for happy hour at The Statler Hotel’s SCOUT Bar. There will be drink specials for the first 30 minutes and a tour!
The hotel opened in 1956 as The Statler Hilton Dallas and at the time was the largest hotel in the Southwest. Many of the latest innovations in architecture and electronics were utilized in the hotel, including a cantilevered reinforced slab system, a decorative glass and porcelain exterior curtain wall, elevator music, 21” Westinghouse televisions in each guestroom, and a heliport on the roof. In 2001, the hotel closed and then was nearly demolished in 2003. Centurion American Development Group purchased the building in 2013 and worked to restore the hotel to its former glory. The building now includes a hotel, private apartment residences, a state-of-the-art concert venue, meeting facilities, four dining outlets, and retail / office space.
