Dirk Denison, FAIA is recognized for design excellence across a range of building types and scales, with a focus on residential, retail, hospitality, institutional, commercial, and campus planning projects. He is also a leader at the College of Architecture at Illinois Institute of Technology and has overseen a master plan and renovation for the iconic campus that includes designs by Mies van der Rohe and Rem Koolhaas.
Denison is the Director of the biennial Mies Crown Hall Americas Prize which recognizes the best built work in the Americas and reveals issues facing our urban environments. Denison’s design leadership includes service as president of the Architecture & Design Society and the National Advisory Council for the Cranbrook Academy of Art. Denison received his Master of Architecture from Harvard’s GSD. The studio’s work has been recognized in Architect, Architectural Digest, A+U, Elle Décor, Global Architecture, Interior Design, Interior Design Homes, Metropolitan Home, The New York Times Magazine, Progressive Architecture, and the Urban Land Institute Magazine, and has won numerous awards from the AIA, the Chicago Architectural Club, and IIDA Illinois. Denison’s outstanding residential projects are featured in the monograph Dirk Denison 10 Houses.
