Our first Appetite for Architecture of 2023 spotlights Dallas Arts District destination HALL Arts Hotel & Residences, offering a behind the scenes look at the full-service luxury boutique hotel and a peek inside the exclusive residential high-rise. About the design:
At the heart of world-renowned Dallas Arts District, this light-filled mixed-use development serves to connect, inspire, and provide a quiet respite from the bustle of life in a global city. The project executes the Arts District’s vision and values of a vibrant pedestrian friendly urban environment while adding diversity in program with a boutique hotel, residential, office, and street-level retail. The project is designed to prioritize the public realm by enhancing pedestrian connections, and the livability and walkability of the district at large.
The sophisticated architectural expression is executed with great intention and elegance to enhance and respect the district’s Pritzker Prized architectural landmarks.
The development embraces a holistic and integrative design approach to achieve higher performing outcomes relative to social, economic, and planetary issues. Community is the central organizing concept of the building which influenced an economic commitment towards long-term value and high-quality design, benefiting a more sustainable and long-term future.
Civic spaces were included to improve access and invite the community to explore the public realm of the project at a human scale. Ecology and water influenced the naturally designed environments focus on water conservation and quality. The design integrates healthy material resource selections and construction methodologies to further the project’s commitment to health and wellbeing, through both LEED Gold and WELL Certification.
