After receiving more than 200 entries, Vignette Art Fair 2024 curator Dr. Vivian Li has selected 37 women artists from cities across the state to be featured in the sixth-annual Vignette Art Fair happening Oct. 17–19, 2024, at Dallas Market Hall (2200 N Stemmons Fwy, Dallas, TX 75207). The Fair is free and open to the public Friday, Oct. 18, and Saturday, Oct. 19; however, tickets are required for the VIP Benefit Preview on Thursday, Oct. 17.

The juried event exclusively features works by Texas women artists in an effort to promote, support and connect exceptional yet under-represented regional talent.

Dr. Li, who serves as the Lupe Murchison Curator of Contemporary Art at the Dallas Museum of Art, reported that after announcing the call for entries in July, 206 women applied representing Texas’ eclectic cultural terrain – from Dallas, Denton, Irving and McKinney, to Austin, Amarillo, Houston, San Antonio and Nacogdoches.

“Selecting the artists for the Vignette Art Fair 2024 was both a sincere pleasure and an honor. I was thoroughly impressed by the dynamic range and talent of the artists who submitted to the open call,” said Li. “I was particularly drawn to those with a maverick sensibility—artists who possess a bold, unapologetic vision combined with a poetic sensitivity to their medium and message. Some artists will be featured in solo presentations to provide a deeper exploration of their varied practices.”

From rising to renowned artists, the fair will feature 86 pieces of art of all mediums and disciplines including performance pieces. The 2024 juried artists are Christine Adame (Justin), Victoria Brill (Dallas), Anese Eun Cho (Dallas), Eden Collins (Nacogdoches), Christian Cruz (Dallas), Kerriann Curtis (Richardson), Anindita Dasgupta (Aubrey), Mary Catherine Davis (Dallas), Sarah DePetris (Dallas), Karen Edwards (Dallas), Jenelle Esparza (San Antonio), Maria Esswein (Euless), Veronica Gaona (Houston), Shuang Gou (Round Rock), Sorany Gutierrez (Dallas), Megan Hildebrandt (Austin), Rehab El Sadek (Austin), Nitashia Johnson (Dallas), Kumiko Johnson (McKinney), Deepaa Koshallay (Frisco), Sam Lao (Dallas), Kate Lim (Dallas), Claudia Maysen (Keller), Tina Medina (Dallas), Jamila Mendez (Dallas), Annette Meyer (Amarillo), Georgie Miller (Austin), Cher Musico (Denton), Elvia Perrin (Austin), Fari Rahimi (Denton), Joy Reyes (Irving), Randal Robins (Dallas), Abimbola Salami (Dallas), Marianna Seaton (Highland Village), Britt Thomas (Houston), Doerte Weber (San Antonio) and Becky Wilkes (Azle).

The Vignette Art Fair is among the only fully submission-based art fairs in the world that solely features the work of women artists and where artists receive the full value of any artworks sold, as the organization does not take a commission.

Founded in 2017 by Jessica Ingle, Texas Vignette works to close the gender disparity gap as female artists are not nearly as represented in museum exhibitions, acquisitions and galleries compared to their male counterparts.

Vignette Art Fair 2024 will be open with free admission Friday, Oct. 18, from noon–7 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m.–6 p.m. In addition, a limited number of tickets will be available for purchase to the VIP Benefit Preview on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 6–10 p.m. The evening will feature live performance works, meet-and-greets with the artists and curator, music and an open bar.
