Shawn Mayer
Customized CONTENTment

March 02 – May 04

Liliana Bloch Gallery is proud to present a new exhibition by Shawn Mayer: Customized CONTENTment. Mayer’s new body of work is a series of photographs of signs, textures, walls, and street graffiti repurposed into fine art merchandise items.

Shawn Mayer completed his MFA in Arts and Technology at the University of Texas at Dallas in the spring of 2014. He holds a BA in Music and a BFA in Drawing from the University of Missouri (2008). He has worked on award-winning animation, production, and post-production for television, film, and commercial programming.

His work aims to bridge the gap between physical and digital media, combining them with immersive and interactive elements to create new and unconventional art. His areas of focus include online media, emergent play, improvisation, and folk practices which he reflects in gallery spaces to create unexpected and humorous experiences.

For the past five years, Shawn has worked extensively with additive manufacturing in stop-motion filmmaking within the Portland, Oregon area where he performs regularly. Shawn Mayer lives and works in Portland, Oregon.

Gabrielle Constantine
Selected Works

March 2 – April 6

Gabrielle Constantine (1994) was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where she received her double BFA in Sculpture and Fibers and Material studies at the Tyler School of Art (2017). She’s currently living and working in Austin, TX and holds an MFA at The University of Texas of Austin (2023). Growing up in an Armenian Community and the restaurant industry has inexplicably informed her material, linguistic, and performative decisions surrounding her sculptures, installations, and gatherings.

In 2017, she co-founded a series called Supper Club in collaboration with Reading Terminal Market. It was a collection of alternative art shows that presented narratives of vendors in the market, such as butcher shops, spice stores, and fruit stands. In 2020, she started Not Now, But Now, a series of installation dinners. In Austin, Texas, Constantine has hosted local gallerists, writers, and artists to share dinner with grad students through prompt-based meals and continues to innovate ways of gathering community through art and food.
