Laura Rathe Fine Art announces Heart of the Matter, an exhibition featuring new works by Rodrigo Franzao, Christy Lee Rogers, and Janna Watson. LRFA will be hosting the opening reception on Saturday, February 22nd from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at their Dallas Design District gallery.
Heart of the Matter brings together three artists that specialize in the distillation of light and movement. Rodrigo Franzao, Christy Lee Rogers, and Janna Watson
devote themselves to capturing the essence of their subjects and inspirations.
LRFA Dallas is pleased to debut one of their newest artists, Rodrigo Franzao, in this exhibition. Franzao works with FSC-certified eco-friendly German paper and acrylic paints, a testament to his focus of sustainability within his artistic practice. Through the careful, meditative folding and arranging of paper strips, Franzao creates fields of depth and dimension, emphasizing the materiality of the paper and manipulating the naturally occurring to breathe life into the work.
Celebrated for her ethereal underwater photography, Christy Lee Rogers manipulates light and water to create Baroque-inspired imagery. Working in the dark of night, Rogers records brilliant moments of submerged models, dancing underwater with shimmering lengths of silk and organza. Dazzling undulations flash through Rogers’ camera lens, each image like a snapshot from a dream. Rogers’ photographs vibrate with celestial rhythm, dramatic chiaroscuro light preserved for eternity.
Janna Watson’s conceptual painting delves into the abstraction of reality, using color and form to evoke emotional resonance. She views abstraction as both an escape from and a return to the real, allowing paint to become a character in its own narrative. Watson’s process is intuitive, often unplanned, enabling spontaneous expression. She emphasizes the importance of the sky in her work, describing it as a “numinous entity that draws us toward a preeminent power,” serving as her muse and a connective portal to nature.
