About KETTLE ART GALLERY

‘the Lost & the Found’
sculptor Nic Noblique + painter Jeff Skele

Kettle Art Gallery in Deep Ellum invites you to the opening reception for ‘the Lost & the Found,’ a collaboration of new sculptures and paintings by sculptor Nic Noblique and painter Jeff Skele.

A happenstance meeting several years ago is where it all started. In retrospect, a lost friend and a found friend (who was lost and who was found is debatable) began to write their story together. Fast forward to an inaugural collaborative show in 2020, and Nic and Skele are reflecting on what came from that and re-evaluating the potential there. Here we are in 2024, with the opening of a new show that reflects on the growth, the friendship, the chaos and the love of art these two share.

“The Lost and The Found” is an exhibition of both sculpture and painting. Wall-hung work mingles among the floor standing sculpture and pedestals. Skele’s original paintings are shaken up with Nic’s additions and vise versa as Skele puts his spin on Nic’s work. This show represents both artists equally, and mutually. When you look at the work presented, you can imagine some works ‘found’ and given new life by the artist who added their own life to it.

In their own words, Nic and Skele each have this to say about the show…

“We are all lost until we are found. We are always searching. Traversing the human landscape, in search of who, what, we are to the world and ourselves. This expedition of self purpose becomes more clear when you find your people. Being able to share stories, inspiration and dreams. And, sometimes, you get to meld your thoughts and passions.” – Jeff Skele Sheely
