WHAT Guided Walking Tour: Modern Spaces of Fort Worth — a Plaza, a Park, a Garden
This fall, thousands of individuals in over 30 U.S. cities will gather to celebrate modernist outdoor spaces.
Join Docomomo US NTX in Fort Worth on October 13th for a guided tour of three significant public spaces that (originally) combined landscape and water. Each provides its own response to the environment, be it meditative or interactive, while providing compelling examples of the success and failures of public spaces in urban settings.
Shuttered since 2007, guests will have an exclusive opportunity to tour Heritage Plaza and hear from the team managing its restoration. A morning not to be missed!
Tour guides include: R. Gannon Gries, AIA, of Bennett Benner Partners; Robert L. Meckfessel,FAIA, LEED AP BD+C, of DSGN Associates, Inc.; and Gregory S. Ibañez, FAIA, of Ibañez Shaw Architecture, LLC.

ABOUT Docomomo US NTX is a chapter of Docomomo, an international, non-profit organization active in 69 countries and dedicated to the documentation and conservation of buildings, sites and neighborhoods of the modern movement.
Now in its 12th year, Docomomo Tour Day, is the only national event of its kind. It is an annual celebration of modern architecture and design where the public and like-minded organizations across the country participate in a tour or event on the second Saturday and throughout the month of October. This year’s theme, “Public Spaces – Inside and Out,” invites people everywhere to explore the innovative design concepts of common spaces set aside for public use while bringing attention to the threats facing many of these significant places.
