Photographer Barbara Kasten creates spatially ambiguous photographs that skirt the boundaries of sculpture, performance and installation. Each image grows out of a multi-layered process wherein the artist creates a self-supporting sculpture, manipulating objects in front of an unmoving camera to turn light and shadow into form.
Kasten’s work is currently on view in The Sensation of Space, an exhibition at The Warehouse co-organized in partnership with the Nasher Sculpture Center.
Open to the public. Free with museum admission. Free for Members. Free for Students with ID. Complimentary wine reception with RSVP.
Lecture attendees are invited to an open house at The Warehouse after the lecture to see Barbara Kasten’s work in The Sensation of Space, Saturday, August 24, 3:30 – 5 p.m.
