Privé Collection by Philippe Starck
Last week, I was invited to visit the Scott + Cooner showroom; they are the
exclusive distributors of Cassina in Dallas. They were launching the Privé Collection
designed by the famous French architect Philippe Starck. Knowing the dynamics
of all three entities in this equation, I decided to venture down and see the new
collection.
From the moment I entered the showroom, I was struck by the excitement of the
visual displays, the awesome design and the movement within the collection.
Cassina is renowned for their exquisite designs. Tailoring and engineering, this
collection by Starck is influenced by a combination of legendary modern
designers Le Corbusier and Mies van De Rohe.

Privé is a collection of upholstered seating starting with “Caprice and Passion”.
An inviting blend of the traditional, the provocative and the ironic, this
interesting collection consists of two compact wrap-around seats, two shells
with sinuous profiles. They are  welcoming and protective, with clean-cut lines
and gorgeous quilted covers.  The mosaic of leather or fabric, which seems
to become an elegant and sophisticated gown. The collection consists of
armchairs, chaise lounges, sofas, big islands, small islands and ottomans.
Models are available with adjustable or fixed armrests. The attitude is in the
details. Structure is in polished aluminum with quilted upholstery in leather
or fabric. Also the displays created by Cassina designer Piero Lissoni are a
must see and should be around for a few more days.
