Holly Johnson Gallery presents
“Papers and Trains”
photographs by Mike Osborne
This show focuses on Mike‘s two distinct but not so subtly interconnected photographic series,
Press Pictures which revolves around the highly powered monumentally large newspaper printing
presses in this country, distinguished by their industrial colors, and the Underground series which
focuses on the subterranean in similar colored waiting areas of foreign metro subways not
similar to those in this country.

|Their drop-dead connection centers on the compositions lacking human presence both
background and foreground-wise with the onlooker waiting for action to take over –
printed newspapers passing through the presses, speeding subways stopped to be
boarded. Even if a real person is placed in the picture as the main subject matter,
the elements in the picture appear is cold, perfectly still and totally personality-less -
all brilliantly accomplished through the photographer’s style and selected venues.
