Galleri Urbane opening reception March 5th from 6-8:30 featuring Dallas
artists Jason Willaford and Introducing Liz Kerrigan

Jason Willaford's recent work, is more about color. In past series,"More Abstract
Linear",color a prominent factor, the artists focus was on the horizontal line,
minimal incisions cut through the center of the painting, creates a spatial feeling
of cognitive dissonance, or what  is real ? The line still prevalent, the current series
of work has evolved into a study of the artists own "dogma of color, and other
idiosyncrasies".
" Throughout my experiences in life, a mass rolodex of do's and don'ts has been
created ", says the artist. One example is with color, Our own personal history
dictates how we proceed. As a result, Willafords current 9 grid panels, are colors
that he has never used, or placed next to one another. This manipulation of color
changes how his mind has been trained, opening a whole new prospective of
options. " I find still the work must be as perfect as humanly possible." says the
artist. Included in the mix of Willaford's new "Color", is Heavy Metals, a series of
paintings of copper, bronze, and lead, included in the concept, a limited
edition," Timeless Dichotomy", Chromed 55 gallon oil barrels.
Recently, Jason had an idea that he wanted to have a show with the concept
being, "artists, I'd like to show with", to begin this thought process, Jason  invited
Dallas artist, Liz Kerrigan to exhibit her recent work, concrete houses,"The Urbane
Landscape".  For about ten years, Liz has been making houses out of every
material including clay, wood, copper, steel, glass, plaster, lead, sugar, yardsticks,
pencils, pure graphite, and most recently, concrete. "The houses have been
mostly of a size that would fit in my palm, because this quest has been personal
and that small scale feels intimate to me". The concrete houses are larger in scale ,
a new direction allows the idea of housing to be a larger thought, rather than
being a personal search for home.
The concrete houses are solid but minimal, In a group they form an urban
landscape. The urban landscape speaks of our human desire for community
